PolyU and Peking University explore collaboration in medical technology in China

To promote the development of scientific research and interdisciplinary research in the field of medical technology

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Peking University Health Science Center (Peking University) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaboration in the field of medical technology, including joint research and faculty and student exchanges. The collaboration will combine the research capabilities and teaching resources of PolyU's School of Health and Social Sciences and the Institute of Medical Technology of Beijing Medical University to jointly promote the development of interdisciplinary medical disciplines and medical technology.

After the signing ceremony, the PolyU delegation and the scholars of Beijing Medical University had an in-depth discussion on the potential of cooperation between the two sides in medical education, research collaboration and student training, and introduced the teaching and research development and discipline development of their respective faculties. The delegation also visited the teaching laboratories of the Institute of Medical Technology of Beijing Medical University, the Experimental Teaching Center of Nursing of Peking University and the Clinical Skills Training Center of the Third Hospital of Peking Medical University to gain an in-depth understanding of the facilities and experience of Beijing Medical Technology and clinical education.

With over 45 years of experience in healthcare education, PolyU has trained over 52,000 graduates in various healthcare professions, providing a solid foundation to support and support the development of Hong Kong's healthcare system. The University offers programmes in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, radiotherapy, optometry, medical laboratory testing, speech therapy, nursing, etc., with more than 1,300 healthcare-related teaching and research staff, as well as more than 90 related laboratories and teaching and research facilities. In addition to Beijing Medical University, PolyU has also established partnerships with a number of universities and hospitals in the Mainland, and is actively preparing for the establishment of a third medical school to address the healthcare needs of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
