Industry leaders, academics, and policymakers unite at BITEC to discuss how innovations in Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products (ATMP), agricultural biotechnology, and AI-driven healthcare solutions are positioning Thailand as a regional biotech powerhouse.

The highly anticipated session titled "Upgrading Thailand's Competitiveness by Advanced Biotechnology 2024" successfully took place at Thailand LAB INTERNATIONAL, held at the BITEC Exhibition and Convention Center. Organized by the Biotech Industry Club in collaboration with the Federation of Thai Industries, this session brought together top-tier industry leaders, academics, and policymakers to discuss advancements in biotechnology and their role in elevating Thailand's medical and industrial sectors.

Kicking off the session opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Kulthip Phisitbannit, President of the Biotech Industry Club, followed by a keynote address from Dr. Sitiporn Sirisinha, the Senior Executive of the Ministry of Public Health.

A central theme of the session was the use of Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products (ATMP) to strengthen Thailand's position as a medical hub. Dr. Supachai Suttajit from Chiang Mai University's Stem Cell Research Center and Mr. Preecha Prempree, Deputy Secretary-General of the Thai FDA, outlined the crucial role ATMP plays in clinical advancements, particularly in the areas of stem cell therapy and gene therapy.

Throughout the event, participants had the opportunity to delve into case studies and success stories from Thailand's biotech sector. Dr. Jirada Punyaratabandhu, from the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, highlighted Thailand's burgeoning industry of probiotic strains for health and functional food innovations, emphasizing the potential for international collaborations.

Notably, Dr. Pavanad Bualoy of PTTGC Group presented a case study showcasing how Thai biotechnology innovations have gained global traction, reinforcing Thailand's ability to compete internationally in advanced biotechnology.

As the session progressed, discussions focused on new frontiers in agricultural biotechnology and AI-driven innovations for healthcare and biotechnology. The day culminated with a panel discussion featuring all speakers, who explored future strategies for continued growth and competitiveness in these sectors.
